Al Dente

The Italian phrase that refers to the tenderness of the cooked pasta. Al Dente translates “to the tooth” It describes pasta that is cooked until it offers a slight resistance when bitten into, rather than cooked until soft. 

Adam’s Ale

Adam’s Ale. While this term is classified as ‘obsolete’ it is a bit of jargon that I thought was pretty funny. Adam’s Ale is Water.

Adobo Sauce

Adobo sauce is a dark-red Mexican sauce made from ground chiles, herbs, and vinegar. Chipotle peppers are packed in cans of adobo sauce. Not to mention delicious!!

Arugula

A brightly-colored salad green with a slightly bitter, peppery mustard flavor. It is also called rocket and resembles radish leaves. I quickly fell in love with Arugula after the very first time I ate it.
